The report checks XML structure, the sitemap namespace, duplicate URLs, date formats, priority values, and changefreq values. It accepts both a urlset and a sitemapindex, supplied as XML or a public URL.
Does a valid sitemap mean Google has indexed its URLs?
No. This validator checks the file, not Google’s index or each page’s response. Use Search Console to investigate indexing, and check redirects, canonical tags, robots rules, and noindex directives on the pages themselves.
